Scott Otwell
Owner
Hello everyone! My name is Scott Otwell, and I am the proud owner of PULSEology and ETC (Elite Training Center). Originally from Hilton Head but grew up in Spartanburg, South Carolina, I embarked on an incredible adventure by joining the Marine Corps when I was just 17 years old. I joined the infantry, but the Marines had a different plan for me.
After my training was completed, I found myself stationed at 8th & I in the Honor Guard. I had the privilege of being stationed in Washington, DC, for five years. After my honorable discharge, I pursued higher education at George Mason University. There, I successfully earned my business degree while also obtaining a personal training certification. I began my career as a personal trainer at Gold’s Gym in Lorton, Virginia, where I progressed into a management role.
However, life took a beautiful turn when I became a father to my amazing daughter. Wanting to be closer to family, we made the decision to move back to South Carolina. It was here that I founded PULSEology, initially a personal training company. Over time, PULSEology has evolved and expanded into various other avenues.
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities I’ve had and the growth PULSEology has experienced. My passion for fitness and business has allowed me to create a space where individuals can achieve their goals and live healthier lives. I look forward to continuing this journey and helping even more people along the way.

General Manager
Originally from Youngstown, Ohio, I studied Biomedical Engineering at Ohio State before transferring to Youngstown State, where I graduated with a degree in Psychology/Sociology and a marketing minor in 2017. I spent 8 years working at The Avalon Country Club, eventually managing Aquatic, Fitness & Recreation Operations for 3 locations.
During this time, I obtained certifications in Pool & Spa Operations, Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, and AED.
Seeking new challenges, I pursued a career in law enforcement, applying to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. While on their waitlist, I worked various jobs, including construction and factory work. In 2019, I became Assistant Manager at PULSEology Fitness Club in Hilton Head, helping to revitalize the former Powerhouse Gym.
My fitness background includes 6 years of competitive powerlifting, bodybuilding training, and boxing. With over 10 years of workout experience, I believe all forms of exercise have their place and advantages.

I am originally from Northern Virginia where I worked at Gold’s Gym for almost 10 years. Prior to that, I attended Coastal Carolina University where I received a degree in Exercise Science and fell in love with the idea of someday living near the beach. I enjoy working out and staying in shape, but my favorite activities are playing sports and being active with my dog. My mission is to motivate our members to work hard towards achieving their fitness goals as well as educate them to do so efficiently.

SGPT Manager/ Group X Coordinator
I am originally from Nebraska, but being a part of a military family, we moved around many times. I have been in Bluffton since 2009 and don’t plan on leaving. My family and I love to go to the beach as much as possible. You can find us outside almost the entire summer. Some of my hobbies include working out, reading, and painting.
Fitness became a huge part of my life in high school and I fell in love with being healthy and feeling good. I have continued my knowledge of exercise and nutrition. I have been in the fitness industry for over 20 years and it is truly my passion. My mission is to guide and motivate as many people as I can.
